Description
Well exucuted drawing showing Pope Jean / John XXII (1244-1334), who was seated in Avignon France. He opposed views on ‘the poverty’ of Christ (beatific vision) and led a princely life in Avignon. He also propagated the mission activities and expansion of faith through the travelers of faith. He played an important role in the suppression of withchcraft. In this drawing he gives audience to probably Franciscan travellers.
