Due to censorship, there is no impressum. Stylistically ca. 1840/50.
First volume with 5 double-page coloured woodblocks, and one single-page. Volume 2: 4 double-page, 2 single-page. Vol. 3: 3 double-page and 2 single-page. Total: 17 woodblocks prints, all coloured, erotic scenes with couples. These woodblocks are attributed to Utagawa Kuninao.
Hanshi-bon size, bound in Japanese style (Fukuro-toji), with uniform decorated paper wrappers.
Shunga is a Japanese term for erotic art. Characteristic are the oversized genitals. The figures are usually dressed, except for the genitals. These prints were often not signed, as censorship made artists fearful of prosecution.
The texts are signed Azuma Otoko (=Baitei Kinga).
In good condition, the bindings lightly soiled and wrinkled.
