Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Willem van Senus’ after ‘Charles Howard Hodges’. Willem van Senus (Utrecht 1773-1851 Aalsmeer) was a Dutch engraver. Many of his works were book illustrations. Charles Howard Hodges (1764-1837) was an English painter and engraver. He was probably a student of John Raphael Smith. He worked in Amsterdam and was a very famous portrait painter around 1800. His mezzotint engravings are of very high quality.
