This scarce original antique print depicts a portrait of Napoleon I Bonaparte (1769 – 1821), the French statesman and military leader. Marie Louise (1791 – 1847), was an Austrian archduchess who reigned as Duchess of Parma from 1814 until her death. She was Napoleon’s second wife and, as such, Empress of the French from 1810 to 1814. (source wikipedia)

Stipple engraving on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 10,9 x 16,2 cm. (4,3 x 6,4 inch). Image size: 9,5 x 15 cm. (3,7 x 5,9 inch).

Published in France c. 1810 (based on estimate of age of Marie Louise on picture).

Made by Rousseau & Tassaert after Langlet after the painting by Rosenberg. Engraver possiby: Jean Francois Rousseau (active 1740-1776) who worked as an engraver of portraits, vignettes and book illustrations. We have not been able to distinguish information on Tassaert.

Condition: Good, given age. A few spots. Damp stain upper left. Light soiling General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
