This attractive print was printed in London by Christian Josi in a book with prints by van Amstel, Cootwijk, Schreuder and Josi. On the fence low P. Potter fecit and up “C J”wchich could be Jurriaan Cootwijk or the printer Christaan Josi Ref: 4th State of 4, Wurzbach 15, van Huffel 126.

Made by ‘Jurriaan Cootwijk’ after ‘Paulus Potter’. Jurriaan Cootwijk (1714-1798) made his engravings and drawings after old masters like Potter, van Ostade in Ploos van Amstel technique. Dutch artist. He was a silversmith, drawer, engraver and copiist, teacher of Ploos van Amstel. Paulus Potter (1625-1654) was a famous Dutch painter for his cows and bulls.

Condition: Good, given age. Remains of glue on rear from previous attachment. Trimmed to image. Small repaired tear at bottom middle. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
