BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Original antique master print published by Mme. Veuve Turgis, Rue St. Jacques, Paris, ca. 1850. Our definition of a Master Print is a seperately published print or series of prints, not being an illustrative print to a text. These can both be prints made by old masters (artists) or prints made by others (artists, engravers, etchers) after old masters. Artists and Engravers: Lithographed by Turgis after Jules Sette.

Biography engraver: L. Turgis was a lithographer, mostly known for his series of American seaports.

Biography artist: Jules Sette (act. from 1836), a French painter of portraits and still-lifes of fruit and flowers.
