  4. Civilis laat de zynen over de Maas trekken tegens de Menapien en Morinen. (Claudius Civilis lets his Batavian tribe cross the Maas river against the Menapii and Morini tribes.)
  5. Civilis de Ryn opgedamt hebbende, strydt met de Romainen op ‘t verdronke landt. (Claudius Civilis after damming up the Rhine river, battles the Romans at the flooded land.)
  6. De Germaanen overvallen de Romainen by nacht, en veroveren ‘t schip van Cerialis. (The Batavian/Germanic tribe attack the Romans by night and conquer the ship of Cerialis.)
  7. De maaltyden en Gasteryen der Germaanen. (The meals and hospitality of the Germanic tribe.)
  8. De lykbranding, begraafenis and uytvaart der Germaanen. (The cremation and burial rites of the Germanic tribe.)

These plates originate from a 1704 Dutch ed. of the works of Tacitus, translated by P.C. Hooft.

Engraved by I Mulder. Joseph Mulder (1677-1718). After the series ‘Batavorum cum Romanis bellum’ by Antonio Tempesta (Otto Vaenius, Antwerpen 1612).
