BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Published in The Netherlands, c. 1920.

Biography engraver: Eugene Lucker (1876–1943), Dutch painter and etcher from Roermond, mostly active in Nijmegen. He was first a student of his grandfather, who together with his father worked in the workshop of Pierre Cuypers in Roermond. He then enrolled in the acacdemies of Antwerp and Amsterdam. In 1903 he was appointed as drawing master at the Canisius College in Nijmegen, where he worked until 1937. From 1910 he started making etchings.
