Biography engraver: Gilliam van der Gouwen, first name also transcribed as Guilliam and Willem (ca. 1657, Antwerp — buried on 15 March 1716, Amsterdam) was a Flemish engraver who spent most of his active career in the Dutch Republic. He is known for his reproductive engravin.

Biography artist: Bernard Picart (1673-1733) was a French painter and engraver. He received his art education from his father, Etienne (1632-1721), from Le Brun and Jouvenet at the Royal Academy. His talents developed rapidly: at the age of sixteen he gained honors at the Academy of Paris. His prints in the ‘French’ taste were very popular. His way of working was also very influential for the book illustration in the Netherlands. Pieter de Hondt, Dutch publisher and bookseller (1696–1764).
