Description
This print shows a view on a portrait of Saint Seraphia from Antiochia, a Christian female Martyr from the 2th century. Part of a series of 24 depictions of female martyrs (martyrologium). The plate have edges with flowers and animals. This print is a mirror image of the original. With a latin text beneath. In English: “Both in life and in death you are happy Seraphia, which in; Now heaven (twins, coincidentally blessed.”

Medium: Engraving on hand laid (vergé) paper.

Condition: good, given age. Brown edges. Water stain. Remains of paper tape on reverse. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
