The portrait is enclosed within an elaborate baroque cartouche composed of laurel branches, ribbons, and inscribed titles referencing his offices and honors. Below, a coat of arms is prominently displayed, reinforcing his status and lineage. BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Engraving by Jacob Sandrart after Benjamin Block.

Biography engraver: Jacob Sandrart (1630-1708) was a German engraver and publisher from Nuremberg, part of the prominent Sandrart artistic family. He produced numerous portraits and book illustrations and contributed significantly to German print culture of the seventeenth century.

Biography artist: Benjamin Block (1631-1689) was a German painter associated with the baroque period. He specialized in portraiture and worked across Central Europe, producing refined likenesses of aristocrats and officials.
