Description
This print shows a view on the assassination of the French Plenipotentiaries at the Congress of Rastad, during the 9th year of the French Revolution. We see soldiers killing and plundering civilians who travelled in carriages, Plate number XIV from the series of 15 pivotal moments in the French Revolution between 1789 and 1802.

Condition: good, given age. Water stain in left margin. Browns stains in lower left corner. Creases below. Slight diagonal fold and in left lower corner. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
This attractive print was published in Paris ca. 1802.
Biography engraver: Isidore-Stanislas Helman (1743-1806/1809), was a French draughtsman, engraver and printseller. He was born in Lille in 1743 where he received his early artistic training. His death date is uncertain. He died in Paris in either 1806 or in 1809. In Paris he studied with Jacques-Philippe Le Bas (1707-1783), a draughtsman, engraver and etcher, and was one of his finest pupils. Helman was known especially for his engravings of genre scenes.
Biography artist: Charles Monnet / Monet (1732-1808) was a French painter and illustrator, best known for illustrations of the French Revolution.
