Description
From: ‘Plantae officinales (medicinales) […], vol 1’, by Theodor Friedrich Ludwig Nees von Esenbeck (1787-1837), published 1828-1833. The plates were first published in installments from 1821-1828.
The early handcoloured crayon style lithographs were drawn from nature and made by Aimé Henry. Aimé Constant Fidèle Henry (1801-1875), botanist.
Ref: Nissen 1442. Considered one of the major 19th. c. works on medicinal plants.
Sheet size: 11,6 x 19 inch (29.5 x 48cm)
Condition very good given age. A few small tears in paper edges.
