BACKGROUND INFORMATION
After Rembrandt’s original etching “De Honderdguldenprent”, originally made ca. 1649.
Reference: Bartsch 74 (for the original composition by Rembrandt).
Biography engraver: Leopold Flameng (1831-1911) was a French engraver and illustrator known for reproducing Old Masters like Leonardo, Ingres, and Rembrandt. He was active from 1850s?1910s.
Biography artist: Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn (1606-1669) was a Dutch painter and etcher, widely considered one of the greatest visual artists in history and a master of light and shadow.
