BACKGROUND INFORMATION

From a French veterinary dictionary possibly an earlier ed. of ‘Dictionaire Veterinaire’ by P.J. Duchoz, 1775, which shows plates with captions above.

Biography engraver: Claude-Mathieu Fessard (1740-ca. 1803), often referred to as “Fessard l’A?n?”, was a French burin engraver and print publisher active in Paris. Known for natural history plates and reproductive engravings after other artists. Elder brother of Marin Fessard.
