BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Published c.1806, likely in London.
Biography engraver: Italian engravers active c.1790-1810, known for reproducing genre and allegorical works for European publishers. Alessandro Zaffonato (fl. 1730) was an Italian engraver of the late Baroque period. He engraved Raphael’s Judgment of Solomon and a few other plates. Pietro Zancon (1772-1807) was an engraver, born in Bassano, active in London; brother of Gaetano (q.v.).
