BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Reverse copy of print originally used in Novus De Leone Belgico (1605), this print was also included in historical series documenting significant rulers and events of the late 16th century. Based on an engraving by Frans Hogenberg, this version was published between 1605 and 1620. .

Biography artist: Frans Hogenberg (1535-1590) was a Flemish engraver known for his historical prints and maps, particularly those depicting the Eighty Years’ War and notable European rulers of the time.
