‘A VIEW OF LONDON ABOUT THE YEAR 1560’

– A beautiful Elizabethan-era view of London, published in 1738 in Maitland’s History of London. Features a key identifying over 80 landmarks, including the City Walls, the Globe Theatre, and bull and bear baiting pits on the south bank of the Thames. Based on a large print from the collection of Hans Sloan. Two coats of arms appear in the top corners.
