Medium: Etching on hand-laid (verge) paper. Watermark: 7-pointed foolscap.

Sheet size: 18 x 14 cm (7.09 x 5.51 inch). Image size: 17.5 x 13.5 cm. (6.89 x 5.31 inch).

Condition: very good, given age. Light natural age toning; well-preserved print with sharp detailing of the etching. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

From the series of 8 “Differents chiens” by Jan Le Ducq, dated 1661.

Reference: Bartsch 6, HD #6-2(3).

Biography engraver: Jan Le Ducq (1627-1676) was a Dutch artist known for his animal studies and pastoral scenes. His works often depict rural life and animals, rendered with fine detail and expressive realism, making him a notable figure in the Dutch Golden Age of etching and engraving.
