‘ST. LUCAS. ST. IOANNES.’

– The image is a print depicting two figures from Christian iconography, representing Saints Luke and John, each associated with one of the four Evangelists of the New Testament. On the left is St. Luke, traditionally symbolized by a bull or ox, signifying sacrifice, service, and strength. St. Luke is often identified as a physician and artist, and here he is shown with a book and a quill, possibly a reference to his authorship of the Gospel according to Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. On the right is St. John, symbolized by an eagle, a figure associated with the high soaring of the spirit and the direct vision of God, reflecting the theological depth of John’s Gospel. St. John is depicted with a book and inkwell, signifying his role as the author of the Gospel according to John, three epistles, and the Book of Revelation.
