Description
‘SCHLACHT BEI SACILE, AM 16. APRIL 1809. ‘
This original antique plate shows the Battle of Sacile (also known as the Battle of Fontana Fredda) on 16 April 1809. An Austrian army commanded by Archduke John of Austria defeated a Franco-Italian army led by Eugene de Beauharnais and force it to retreat.

Steel engraving on wove (vellin) paper.
Condition: good, given age. Some foxing. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
