Description

Etching on hand laid (verge) paper. Watermark: Amsterdam coat of arms with beam below.
Sheet size: 20 x 15,5 cm. (7,9 x 6,1 inch). Image size: 19 x 14,5 cm. (7,5 x 5,7 inch).

This attractive print was published in 1651. Ref: Hollstein Dutch 8-1(3).

Made by ‘Dirck Stoop’ after own design. Dirck Stoop (1610-1686) was a Dutch artist, draughtsman and etcher. He made portraits, town views and particularly landscapes.

Condition: Good, given age. Browning from previous matting. Several small tears, light paper in magins from previous attachment. Small tear at right middle extending into image, backed. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
