This attractive print was published by Chereau in Paris in the 18th century. The same picture in reflection is known of Jacques le jeune Chereau, French, 1688-1776.

Made by ‘Lucas ‘ after ‘Nicolas Bertin’. Possibly by by Jean Francois Lucas, who was a Flemmish publisher, active until c. 1724. His business was continued by his widow. We have not been able to find more information on this publisher or the engraver. Nicolas Bertin (1667-1736) was a French painter.

Condition: Fair, given age. Trimmed to image. Overall soiling. Tear in upper left corner restored. Tear in lower margin been restored. Smudges and small tears in paper edges. Sold waf. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
