Armytents and soldiers on both sides. In the clouds a god of war with a spear in his chariot, pulled by owls.

This attractive print was published in Augsburg, in Negotium Academiae, ca.1770. This is an optical print, also called ?vue optique? or ?vue d?optique?, which were made to be viewed through a Zograscope, or other devices of convex lens and mirrors, all of which produced an optical illusion of depth.

Made by ‘Balthazar Sigismond Setlezky’ after ‘Lodovico Burnacini’. Balthazar Sigismond Setlezky, (1695-1774). Lodovico Burnacini (1636-1707) was an architect and set-designer. Born in Mantua, died in Vienna. Worked with Giovanni Burnacini, his father and teacher. Active in Vienna, 1652.

Condition: Good, given age. Light soiling. Trimmed to image. Attached to cardboard. Tear at bottom middle. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
