Plate: ‘Een stervende Parsis of Gueber, welks ziel door een hond wordt ontvangen.’ (A dying Parsi who’s soul transmigrates / reincarnates to a dog). A Parsi or Parsee is a member of the larger of the two Zoroastrian communities in the Indian subcontinent, a member of the other being an Irani. This attractive original old antique print / plate originates from a Dutch translation of: ‘A New Universal History of the Religious Rites, Ceremonies, and Customs of the Whole World’ by William Hurd, published ca. 1785.Artists and Engravers: Author: William Hurd.
