Antique print, untitled. Landscape with two figures seated beneath three large trees. A cottage in the background. Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after Antonie Waterloo. Antonie Waterloo (1609-1690) was a Dutch Golden Age etcher and landscape painter. He is believed to be born in Lille, but his family moved to Amsterdam (probably to escape religious persecution). He was a painter and etcher and famous for his landscapes (of which he created 136). He developed his own style, probably as an auto-didact. Although Waterloo traveled widely, many of his landscapes were probably imagined in the workshop and were influenced by the work of other landscapists.

Condition: Good, given age. Margins cropped to the platemark. Weakness in the paper and a restoration in the top right corner of the image. A small closed tear in the top left of the image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
