Pulo Condore is the Malay name for Con Son Island, just off the coast of Vietnam. Luconia possibly refers to the Lubang Islands off the coast of the Philippines.

Sheet size: 15,2 x 20,2 cm. Image size: 13,8 x 16,2 cm.

From William Sewel’s Dutch translation of William Dampier’s travel logue: ‘Nieuwe Reistogt rondom de Wereld …’ (A New Voyage Round the World), published in Nijmegen by Isaac van Campen, 1771.

Made by Caspar Luyken after an anonymous artist. Engraver: Caspar Luyken / Luiken (based on monogram C.L. in some of the plates in the originating work). (1672-1708) was a Dutch engraver and draughtsman. He was the son and worked with Jan Luyken (1649-1712). He also worked for Christoph Weigel and Romeyn de Hooghe.

Condition: Very good, given age. Minimal paper loss left edge, not affecting image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
