Plate: ‘Gevecht van Prins Frederik van Oranje, voor Lannoij, den 27 Augustus 1793.’ (Battle of Prince Frederik of Oranje, near Lannoy, France, 27 August, 1793.) This scarse original old antique print / engraving originates from: ‘Het Leven van Willem George Frederik, Prince van Orange.’ (The Life of …), by J.P. van Ginkel, published in Rotterdam, 1802. Willem George Frederik, Prince of Oranje-Nassau (Den Haag 1774 – Padua 1799), also called Fritz, was the youngest son of King Willem V and Wilhelmina of Prussia. He became a great and brave military leader in the defence against the invading French into the Netherlands.Artists and Engravers: This engraving is engraved by Cornelis Brouwer (ca. 1733-1803) after Cornelis Groeneveld.
Condition: Fine. General age related toning and occasional light staining as visible on image. Original fold lines and some ghosting from image.
