Antique print, titled: ‘De Nes, of het Reaalen-eiland. het lust-huis van Juffr: Sara Reael. siende naer Vreeland. ‘ – This print shows the Nes or Realeneiland or Huys te Nigtevecht, the estate of Mrs. Sara Reaal as seen towards Vreeland. From: ‘De Zegepraalende Vecht, vertoonende verscheidene Gesichten van Lustplaatsen, Heeren Huysen en dorpen, beginnen van Uitrecht en met Muyden besluytende.’, published in Amsterdam by Andries de Leth / Wed. Nicolaas Visscher, 1719. (Transl: The glorious Vecht river, showing it’s estates and towns from Urecht to Muiden.)Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Daniel Stoopendaal’ after an anonymous artist. Daniel Stoopendaal (Dutch) was active in Amsterdam from 1685 to 1713. Both Daniel and Bastiaan Stoopendaal made maps for the so-called Keur Bibles (published from 1666-1756). Most probably both were not related. Bastiaan worked mostly in the circle of Nicolaes Visscher. Daniel engraved topographical prints and maps. He engraved the plates for books published by Pieter van der Aa: ‘De zegepralende Vecht van Utrecht tot Muyden’ and ‘Galérie agreable du Monde’.
Condition: Excellent, given age. A few small stains in print. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
