2 Antique prints, titled: ‘Wallestein. het land-huis van den Hr. Jacob Balde, van vooren uit de Vecht. ‘ – This set of 2 prints show Wallestein, the estate of Mr. Jacob Balde. Views of the house and surrounding formal baroque gardens. From: ‘De Zegepraalende Vecht, vertoonende verscheidene Gesichten van Lustplaatsen, Heeren Huysen en dorpen, beginnen van Uitrecht en met Muyden besluytende.’, published in Amsterdam by Andries de Leth / Wed. Nicolaas Visscher, 1719. (Transl: The glorious Vecht river, showing it’s estates and towns from Urecht to Muiden.)Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Daniel Stoopendaal’ after an anonymous artist. Daniel Stoopendaal (Dutch) was active in Amsterdam from 1685 to 1713. Both Daniel and Bastiaan Stoopendaal made maps for the so-called Keur Bibles (published from 1666-1756). Most probably both were not related. Bastiaan worked mostly in the circle of Nicolaes Visscher. Daniel engraved topographical prints and maps. He engraved the plates for books published by Pieter van der Aa: ‘De zegepralende Vecht van Utrecht tot Muyden’ and ‘Galérie agreable du Monde’.
Condition: Good, given age. Original middle fold, as issued. Stain in left top of one print. Some light foxing in fold and in lower margin. General age related toning and occasional minimal light staining from handling as visible on image. Please study scan carefully.
