Plate: This plate sheet has 4 engravings with portraits of the 60th Pope S. Pelagius I (died in the year 561), 61st Pope S. Joannes / John III (died in the year 574), 62nd Pope S. Benedictus / Benedict I (died in the year 579), 63rd Pope S. Pelagius II (520 – 590). This attractive original old antique print / plate originates from: ‘Triomph der Pausen van Roomen over alle hare Benyders ende Bestryders met eene volkomen, ende overtuyghende wederlegginghe van alle de lasteringhen, en valscheden van de sectarisen..’ (Transl.: Victory of the Roman Popes over those who envy and fight them, and a convincing plea against all laster and fraud by the sectarians / sects.) published in Antwerpen, Michiel Knobbaert, by het Prosessen-huys, in S.Peeter, 1678.Artists and Engravers: Author: Cornelius Hazart (1617-1690) was a Dutch Jesuit controversialist, orator, and writer of polemical history. Engraver: Frederik Bouttats, born in Antwerp c. 1620.

Condition: Very good given age. General age related toning. Edges slightly browned. Please study scan carefully.
