Original print, number 8, titled: Oude Kerk. A side view of the Oude Kerk (Old Church) in Amsterdam. It is the oldest building and oldest parish church, founded in ca. 1213. This original print is from the rare topographical work ‘Amsterdam met der zelver Voornaamste Gebouwen / D’Amsterdam et deses Principaux Bastimens’ published ca. 1665. This work contains a total of one plan and 70 prints depicting the most famous buildings of Amsterdam (many of which are still extant). The prints are engraved after J. Veenhuisen en S. Webbers. He is mainly known for the many views he made of Amsterdam, and his portraits. S. Webbers is possibly Sacharias Webber (Amsterdam 1644-1696) is an artist/engraver. He was a student of Gerard de Lairesse. His father was a bookseller/publisher.
Condition: Good. Bottom right edge dampstained, sheet browned, a tiny hole in the left margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
