Antique print, titled: ”Amstel Kerk” – (Amstel Church.) View of the former Amstelkerk in Amsterdam and surrounding area: Prinsengracht and Reguliersgracht. From: the second edition (first 1693) of ‘Beschryvinge van Amsterdam….’, 1726, one of the best 17th. century descriptions of Amsterdam, based on the works of Dapper and van Domselaar and on materials furnished by the author’s father Isaac Commelin. Casparus Commelin had access to the archives of the city and thus considered more reliable than Dapper/Domselaar.Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after ‘Casparus Commelin’. Author: Casparus Commelin (1636-1693), publisher and bookseller in Amsterdam.
Condition: Very good, given age. Original folds as issued. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
