A composite set, volume one from the ‘Nouvelle Edition’ of 1740, volume two from the ‘Seconde Edition’ of 1735. Attractively illustrated guide to the mineral sources of Belgium.
Volume one with 8 engraved folding plates and an engraved folding title page. Vol. 2: 7 folding engraved plates.

Vol. 1: Contemporary full calf with five raised bands to the spine. Gilt decoration and the title and volume number gilt to two spine tickets. Board edges and turn-ins with a gilt roll border, marbled endpapers.
Vol. 2: Contemporary full calf with gilt decoration and the title and volume number gilt to two morocco spine tickets. Boards with a triple gilt rule, board edges with a single gilt rule, marbled endpapers.

Volume 1: Cover condition fair: the front hinge cracked and weak, though still attached, rear hinge slightly worn, spine ends chipped, corners worn, board edges a little rubbed. Inside condition very good: some newspaper clippings tipped-in in the prelims, pencil annotations on the front blanks, ink inscription opposite the title page.
Volume 2: Cover condition very good: spine cracked and rubbed from use, board edges and corners a little rubbed (please study image carefully). Inside condition very good: a bookplate to the front pastedown, an ink-stamp of the same owner to the rear of the title page, a dampstain in the lower gutter margin throughout (affecting text and plates).
