Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Franz Seraph Hanfstaengl’ after ‘Gerard Dou’. Franz Seraph Hanfstaengl (1804-1877) was a German painter, lithographer and photographer. Gerard Dou (or Dow/Douw, 1613-1675) was a Dutch Golden Age painter, specialised in genre scenes and his candle-lit night scenes.
