Subject: Antique Master Print, titled: ‘A country wake.’ – A large gathering of people of all ages, in mounring outside an inn.
Condition: Excellent, given age. Small tear in upper margin, reinforced with acid free archival tape. A very faint stain in the lower margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Etching / engraving on laid paper.

Description: Published by John Boydell in 1772.
Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Pierre-Charles Canot’ after ‘Isaac Ostade’. Pierre-Charles Canot (c.1710-1777) was a French engraver, although he moved to England in 1740, where he remained for the rest of his life. Isaac van Ostade (Haarlem 1621-1649) was the younger brother of Adriaen van Ostade, and a Dutch genre and landscape painter as well.
