Subject: Antique print, titled: ‘Gorcum.’ – A view of the Dutch city Gorcum (also Gorinchem), seen over the Boven Merwede river. The sun breaks through the clouds causing a stark dark-light contrast.
Condition: Very good, given age. Slightly browned around the image (from matting). General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Etching on modern laid paper. Watermark: Van Gelder Zonen

Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Arend Hendriks’ after own design. Arend Hendriks (1901-1951) was a Dutch printmaker. He was self-taught in painting, although he did receive some training in drawing early in life. His skill was recognised, however, as from 1933 he became a teacher (in graphic arts) at the Academy for Visual Arts in the Hague.
