Subject: Antique print, untitled. Murder of Lescuijer in the Franciscan Church of Avignon on Oct. 16, 1791. French revolutionaries pillaging a church.
Condition: Very good, given age. Ample margins, colored by hand. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Description: Illustration from ‘Tafereelen van de Staatsomwenteling in Frankrijk’ by J. Konijnenburg and M. Stuart, published in 1796. Proof impression before addition of title captions.
Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Reinier Vinkeles & Daniel Vrijdag’ after ‘Jan Bulthuis’. Reinier Vinkeles (Amsterdam; 1741-1816), was an 18th-century painter and engraver from the Northern Netherlands, who was the later teacher of several talented artists. He studied for some ten years with Jan Punt and joined the Amsterdam Stadstekenacademie Jan Bulthuis (1750-1801) was a Dutch painter and draughtsman. He made many topographic drawings and designs for book illustrations.
