Etching on Japanese paper paper.
Sheet size: 14,8 x 17 cm. (5,8 x 6,7 inch). Image size: 13,8 x 15,8 cm. (5,4 x 6,2 inch).
First published in 1636. We feel this is an ed. printed by Auguste Jean, who acquired Rembrandt plates c. 1805-1810. He only issued a small number of re-strikes and according to Laurentius is known to have printed some on Japanese paper. Very rare in this ed. and medium. Ref: NH 159 III/III Provenance: Ex. Collection G. Biörklund (Lugt 1138c), who wrote a book with O.H. Bernard ‘Rembrandt etchings true and false’, Stockholm, 1955. Not fully described. Inquire for additional information. Can be sold seperately on request.
Made by Rembrandt van Rijn after own design.
Condition: Very good, given age. Very nice impression with margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
