Pencil and gouache drawing on wove (vellin) paper.
Sheet size: 47 x 34 cm. (18,5 x 13,4 inch). Image size: 47 x 30,5 cm. (18,5 x 12 inch).

Source unknown. This being a Roman scene it can probably be dated to pre-1924, as he was mostly in Florence Italy from 1900-1924 working on an assignment on the history of book illustration received from the Belgian government.

Made by Charles Doudelet after own design. Charles Doudelet (1861-1938) was a Belgian painter and graphic artist from Rijsel. He is particularly known for his woodcuts and book illustrations. He won many awards.

Condition: Good, given age. Some pencil annotaions on rear. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
