Biography engraver: Pietro Palmieri (1737-1804), also known as Palmieri il Vecchio, was an Italian painter and printmaker born in Bologna. Active in Parma, Paris, and later in Turin, where he died. His etchings often reproduce works of earlier masters, including battle scenes after Antonio Tempesta. He was part of the Emilian school and is known for his clear, elegant line and dynamic compositions.

Biography artist: Antonio Calza (1658-1725), Italian Baroque painter from Verona. Pupil of Carlo Cignani and Jacques Courtois. Known for dynamic battle compositions and royal commissions in Milan and Vienna. Active mostly in Bologna.
